How to make a Cold Brew Coffee

Brew Smooth, Low-Acid Cold Brew Coffee at Home

Cold brew coffee is made by steeping coarse ground coffee in cold water for 12-24 hours. This long extraction results in a naturally sweet, smooth, low-acid coffee concentrate.

Cold Brew Coffee Equipment:

  • Burr coffee grinder
  • Cold brew pitcher or mason jar
  • Fine mesh strainer or filter
  • Digital kitchen scale

Cold Brew Coffee Recipe:

  • 90g coarse ground coffee per 1 litre water
  • Brew time: 12-24 hours

How to Make Cold Brew Coffee:

  1. Use a burr grinder to coarsely grind fresh coffee beans.
  2. Measure out 90g coarse ground coffee per 1 litre cold filtered water.
  3. Place coffee grounds in cold brew pitcher/jar and slowly pour water over grounds.
  4. Let steep at room temperature for 12-24 hours. Taste occasionally after 12 hours.
  5. When brew reaches your preferred flavour strength, strain out the grounds.
  6. Store concentrated cold brew in the fridge.
  7. Dilute with water or milk over ice to enjoy.

Tips for Great Cold Brew:

  • Grind beans coarsely to avoid over-extraction
  • Extend steep time for stronger concentration
  • Use a 1:4 coffee to water ratio for standard strength

Cold brewing makes a smooth, delicious coffee concentrate. Experiment to perfect your cold brew!
