Brew Smooth, Low-Acid Cold Brew Coffee at Home
Cold brew coffee is made by steeping coarse ground coffee in cold water for 12-24 hours. This long extraction results in a naturally sweet, smooth, low-acid coffee concentrate.
Cold Brew Coffee Equipment:
- Burr coffee grinder
- Cold brew pitcher or mason jar
- Fine mesh strainer or filter
- Digital kitchen scale
Cold Brew Coffee Recipe:
- 90g coarse ground coffee per 1 litre water
- Brew time: 12-24 hours
How to Make Cold Brew Coffee:
- Use a burr grinder to coarsely grind fresh coffee beans.
- Measure out 90g coarse ground coffee per 1 litre cold filtered water.
- Place coffee grounds in cold brew pitcher/jar and slowly pour water over grounds.
- Let steep at room temperature for 12-24 hours. Taste occasionally after 12 hours.
- When brew reaches your preferred flavour strength, strain out the grounds.
- Store concentrated cold brew in the fridge.
- Dilute with water or milk over ice to enjoy.
Tips for Great Cold Brew:
- Grind beans coarsely to avoid over-extraction
- Extend steep time for stronger concentration
- Use a 1:4 coffee to water ratio for standard strength
